As a Senior Portfolio Manager, he co-managed Banc of America’s $1 billion Columbia Small Cap Growth II Fund. During Jon Michael’s tenure, the Fund became a top-quartile performer vs. peers over a 5-year performance span. After 10 years with Banc of America, Jon Michael founded Simarian Research, a boutique asset management firm based on his values of independent thought, accessible advising, and agile investing. Jon Michael has spent his career conducting in-depth company and industry research, along with global macroeconomic trend forecasting, to build portfolios best suited to each client. Jon Michael enjoys building relationships with clients and holds the conviction that his fiduciary duty is to the client first, always.
Even in his free time, Jon Michael is a student of stock market and economic history which informs each investment thesis and market projection. He enjoys strategic board games and travel with his wife, Sarah, and their three teenagers. He is originally from Tupelo, Mississippi, and now lives in Charlotte.
